Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

Hey guys! Today I’m going to be talking about a concealer that has been beloved by many. With a relatively low price point and high coverage, it’s no wonder that this concealer is so popular.

On Maybelline’s website they claim,

“This super-concentrated treatment concealer features a micro-corrector applicator to help instantly erase dark circles and fine lines”

Personally, I’m not as concerned about covering my dark circles as I am about covering my blemishes. Still, I have tried using this concealer for both and it works perfectly!

Aqua/Water/Eau, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Isododecane, Glycerin, Peg-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Nylon-12, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Cyclohexasiloxane, Peg-10 Dimethicone, Cetyl Peg/Ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Chloride, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Methylparaben, Lycium Barbarum Fruit Extract, Chlorphenesin, Ethylparaben, Aluminum Hydroxide, Peg-9, N-Hydroxysuccinimide, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Chrysin, Palmitoyl Tetr Apeptide-7. [+/- May Contain/Peut Contenir: CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499/Iron Oxides] F.I.L. D44980/4 U.S.Patent Pending.

A few things I notice with this concealer is the Cyclopentasiloxane, the Dimethicone, the Butylene Glycol, the Parabens, and the Lycium Barbarum Fruit Extract. The first two I mentioned are really to give the product and skin a more slippery feeling and fill in the pores to leave the surface of the skin smooth. Personally, I don’t love the Dimethicone because it’s not the best for acne prone skin but it’s not terrible. I like that this concealer has Butylene Glycol in it, as it is a common ingredient that helps moisturize the skin, and is usually pretty safe. I know a lot of people have problems with parabens, and while I’m okay with them, if you’re anti-paraben, beware of this product. The final ingredient I want to highlight is Lycium Barbarum Fruit Extract, also known as Gogi Berry Extract! Gogi Berry contains amino acids which can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, so while you’re trying to conceal those wrinkles, you’re also working to fight them. (Although an eye cream might be more effective).

The Run-Down:

I can see why this is one of the most popular concealers in America. The coverage is pretty high and buildable. When I use this on my blemishes, they don’t disappear entirely but they are definitely way less noticeable (as you can see with the pictures above). When I use this under my eyes, the formula doesn’t feel cakey at all and barely creases. The only gripe I have with this product is the applicator. While it’s definitely nive and convenient, it’s sometimes difficult to build coverage. By applying more, I feel like I’m swiping some off. I also, don’t know how much is going from the tube into the brush tip. It’s even gotten to the point where sometimes I just take my fingers and squeeze the top to get the product onto my fingers, which definitely increases the coverage. Another concern is the hygiene of the product. I’m not sure what kind of dead skin cells and bacteria gets trapped in the brush part of the concealer, but I don’t know if I want to know.

Pros and Cons:

  • Relatively low to mid price point
  • Gogi Berry
  • Good coverage with little creasing

  • Applicator (Convenient but the hygiene and effectiveness is questionable sometimes)
  • Parabens and Silicone (for those of you who have this concern)

Who Should Use:

I would honestly recommend this to everyone. I really enjoy the flex of the formula and I couldn’t ask for much more.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

4/5 Stars

This is definitely a daily product for me. I can go out much less concern about minor blemishes and other angry problems my skin throws at me.

  1. Long time supporter, and thought I’d drop a comment.

Your wordpress site is very sleek – hope you don’t mind me asking
what theme you’re using? (and don’t mind if I steal it?

I just launched my site –also built in wordpress like yours–
but the theme slows (!) the site down quite a bit.

In case you have a minute, you can find it by searching for “royal cbd”
on Google (would appreciate any feedback) – it’s still in the works.

Keep up the good work– and hope you all take care of yourself during the coronavirus scare!
